Never look directly into the laser beam or into the end of a fiber connected to an active VFL. Exposure to laser radiation may cause permanent eye damage.
Required Protective Measures:
Always wear appropriate laser safety eyewear when operating a VFL.
Recommended eyewear must meet or exceed the following minimum specifications:
Protection Range: 800–1755nm and 10600nm
Optical Density: OD4+ (800–1755nm), OD5+ (10600nm) or higher
Standards Compliance: CE EN207 or equivalent
Ensure eyewear is undamaged, properly fitted, and suitable for the wavelengths in use.
Safe Operating Practices:
Never point the VFL at yourself or others.
Do not view active fibers with the naked eye or optical instruments.
Verify all fibers are inactive before inspection when possible.
Use appropriate caps or covers on unused connectors.
Operate only by trained personnel familiar with fiber optic safety procedures.
